PLUKDE

The care of silver products:

While polishing and tending silver products it is advisable to use special preparations (liquids, sprays, cloths).

How to make silver products regain their genuine glow and beauty in domestic conditions:

  1. Rinse the silver item in sodium solution (50 g drinking sodium per one liter of hot water) or in warm water with soap and ammonia water (one tablespoon per one liter of water) and then rinse them in clear water and dry thoroughly with a soft cloth.
  2. You can regain the glow of gold-plated objects by rubbing them with an onion half and then polishing them with a soft cloth. You can also clean gold-plated objects with a flannel cloth, moisted in egg white or vinegar, which then have to be rinsed with clear water and let dry without wiping.
  3. Enameled products can be cleaned with tooth powder and ammonia water mixture by means of a cotton bud.
  4. Blackened silver objects can be cleaned with tooth powder or finely grinded chalk.

It is not advised to:

  1. Store silver products in damp, unventilated rooms, because in such conditions they lose their glow and blacken.
  2. Store them in a paper or viscosed packaging, nor in cartons or cases. Parchment paper is the best for silverware storage.
  3. Clean or cleanse silver products with rubbing off materials (sand, pumice, sandpaper etc.) nor rough washcloths or brushes.
  4. Scrub gold plated objects or heat them up to the temperature of over 100° C
